Comspec's initial goal was to provide a one stop solution for recycling plastics for the local market.Their focus was on best utilizing the energy stored in the waste materials by producing high quality recycled resin.
The business has grown rapidly over the last 5 years and now also supports customers in Australia. They process over 2000 tonnes of plastic resins per annum.
Comspec not only provides tolling facilities for customers’ waste plastics, but also offers high quality recycled resins for sale ex stock. They purchase scrap at competitive prices, and have a collection and delivery service. Please contact us for more information on this.
The technology to manage waste is available - the challenge is to commercialize it. In 2007 with the assistance of a research grant from the SIFT fund, Comspec commissioned a feasibility study to assess the commercial viability of installing a state of the art wash plant to process used milk bottles from across the South Island into a high specification high density polymer.
As a result the milk bottle wash facility was commissioned in August 2009 and and the Official Opening by Hon Dr Nick Smith was held on 10 November 2009. View video of opening.
